Easter Eve

Eighteen eggs and nine colored cups sit on the kitchen table at my sister's house. My two nieces and nephew sit ready to take on the task at hand. Now that everyone is older, ranging in age from 12 to 17, there's a little more sibling sassiness. Everyone is talking, but no one is listening. The girls watch their older brother with fascination as he works diligently to inflate the rubber gloves he's wearing while he's wearing them.

This is my nephew's last Easter at home. This time next year he will be studying Art 400 miles from home in Manchester, NH.

In due time, the eggs will be completed. Tomorrow they will be on display-- a rainbow of colors sitting next to Easter ham, potato salad, sweet potatoes, and dessert. For now I will sit and enjoy the sounds of family as they echo through the kitchen.
