Today's pollen count is through the roof at 4,000. Of course, I didn't find that out until after I returned from a short bike ride. It wasn't supposed to be a short ride, but about thirty minutes into it I realized my lungs were struggling to breathe. I was riding into a slight breeze and every incline I encountered was met tightening lungs. I sat nervously for awhile, pondering my next move. Surely the ride was taking its toll on me. Should I continue or head back home?
I carried on hoping to check in on some turtles I had spotted at a nearby marsh last week. They weren't out to greet me; perhaps they too have seasonal allergies.
