Writing Group

My writing group is meeting tomorrow night. Since we've all participated in this month's Slice of Life Challenge we'll take the time to talk about favorite slices of the month. I'll bring my favorite slice of each group member as well as my personal favorite piece of the month. It will be interesting to see if there are any common favorites.

I always look forward to writing group. The monthly meet-up challenges me to keep writing-to keep working at the craft of being a writer. Sometimes I think my writing isn't quite real, or road tested at least, until someone else has read it. I'm not always happy with what I bring, but there's always a part of the whole that I like. It can be as small as one well-chosen word, or just a sentence. That's okay though, there's always the next meet-up.

  1. That sounds like a great group and a great way to end the month's challenge! I'll tell you, it sounds like a lot more fun than my book club will be tomorrow. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to hear your group's sharing tomorrow. The closest I've come to a writing group here is the yearly slicing in March, which I absolutely love. You're so luck that you get it every month!

    Have a wonderful day tomorrow!

  2. Oooh--and do you talk about all of us Slicers? I'd like to be a fly on the wall for that meeting too! Our writing group's first meeting didn't even get off the ground--but I'm hoping for next month. Two of us are determined.

The trick in writing is to write. And re-write. And sounds like by participating in the March Madness of Slicing, that you've got the first one down.

    Happy Writing--see you next year!

  3. I have always thought that being an English teacher was the best job, because when you read the writing of the students, you are reading their thoughts, their dreams, and their experiences - you are really getting to know them. I think that happens in writing group as well, which makes it even more special!
